Our Speaker

Priya Kapila, Compensation Practice Leader at FMI Corporation, is responsible for leading the compensation consulting practice of FMI Compensation. Services provided to clients are primarily focused on the areas of executive compensation, organization wide salary structure development, and short-term and long-term incentive plan design.

Prior to joining FMI, Priya was the Senior Manager of Compensation Consulting for CBIZ, where she specialized in designing compensations systems for clients across diverse industries. She has considerable experience in conducting compensation benchmarking studies, developing market- and job evaluation-based salary structures, drafting job documentation and compensation plans, creating performance-based salary increase and incentive programs, assessing FLSA classifications, testing for pay equity, and documenting compensation policies and procedures. Priya is also an experienced expert witness in the area of reasonable executive compensation.

Priya performed financial analysis for an investment banking firm, specializing in the area of public finance, prior to the award of her master’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia and following graduation. In this role, she supported the implementation of financial structures and initiatives for institutions of higher education and renewable energy companies, in particular.

Priya earned bachelor’s degrees in business administration and international studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Priya is a member of WorldatWork and is the past president of the Compensation and Benefits Network of Greater St. Louis.


About the Program


Compensation data, like age, is just a number...or is it? In fact, there is an array of factors that must be considered to ensure the market-competitive pay data collected and analyzed is reliable and relevant to the job and organization under review.  During this program, total rewards and human resources professionals will learn more about these factors and have the opportunity to simulate the market pricing process as the following questions are answered:

  • Why use compensation data?
  • What compensation data is available?
  • How do you choose the ‘right’ data?
  • How do you use data to ‘benchmark’ (i.e., compare actual employee pay to the market)?

Attendees will also have the opportunity to put the education and insights shared during the presentation into practice through benchmarking exercises!
